| The marshes off the gulf of Southern Louisiana are home to some of the biggest Red Fish in the world. After being ravaged by the Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the marshes have been even more productive for sighfishing Reds then ever. The Marshes of the Gulf region are truly increadble, though they are eroding at an astonishing rate. Even more spectacular is that the fishing community has really banded together down there to make the best of a bad situation. We caught up with Alec Griffin who manages Uptown Angler in the city of New Orleans and his partners in crime, Capt. Rich Waldner and Bryan Carter for a go around on the marsh. It’s was definitely not disappointing. Red Fish are like bull dogs. They grab a fly and won’t let go. Witness these powerful fish grab everything from Rich Waldner’s special spoon fly, to poppers on the surface. It’s an all out fishing frenzy in the wake of Hurricane Katrina’s devastation. Pray you’re not re-incarnated as a shrimp. |
