| Outer Mongolia is one of the most exotic and remote fishing destinations available today. A trip to Mongolia is a trip into the unknown for Americans. It's like going back in time. In the fall of 2006, Mikey Wier and Corey Rich joined Peter Mullett and Jeanavive Villimazar of MongoFly travel for an exploratory trip through the Bulgan and Khovsgol provinces of Outer Mongolia in search of the legendary Taimen. The Hucho Taimen is the largest Salmonid on earth. They are capable of reaching lengths of over six feet. The locals call them the River Wolf because they more resemble a creature than a fish. Many efforts are currently underway to study and protect these mighty fish. Peter has been guiding catch and release fly fishing trips and working on conservation efforts to protect the Taimen for the past 8 years. SOULFISH gives an inside look into the life and times of some really hard core fisherman and the trials of traveling through a county with no paved roads, no signs, no stores, and no time for whining. Why would someone want to put themselves through such great struggle and immense travel just to catch a fish? Take a look through Mikey’s lens as he captures some of the first ever images of these mighty fish striking flies on the surface and maybe you will discover SOULFISH. |
